He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Elmer Essig and Mary Essig; his sister Marilyn Gleissner; his children, Wayne Essig (Mary Fosnaugh), Terina and Thomasina Essig; and his siblings, Lester Essig (Sandy) and Kathleen Humphries (John "Joe"). He was also cherished by 3 nephews, 3 nieces, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
