He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Carpenter; his mother Nellie Carpenter; and his siblings, Harold, Lindsay Carpenter and Jean Jankowski.

He is survived by: his children, Diane Sokol (Robert) and Eric Lynch; his grandchildren, McKenna Sokol and Zachary Scharf; and his siblings, Clifford Paul Carpenter, Lowell "Thomas" Carpenter, Zella White and Freeda Case. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Those who wish may direct contributions in memory of Wally to the Alzheimer's Association.
