He was predeceased by: his parents, James Austin Hizer and Edith Pittsenbarger (Denny); his stepfather Sam Pittsenbarger; his sister Jerlene Ash (Hizer); and his son Gary Hizer.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Hizer (Ritchey); his daughters, Rhonda Hizer (Bill Griffith), Charlene Reitz (Chuck), Renee Hizer, Sharon Darr (Dana) and Debbie Foy; his siblings, Paul, John Pittsenbarger, Linda Nunley, Jack Hizer and Betty Lou Marsh; and his grandchildren, Michael, Mallory Ball, Jeffrey, Justin Reitz, Savannah Sanchez, Anthony and Kyle Darr.
