He was predeceased by : his parents, Leo Hayes and Mildred Havens Hayes. He is survived by : his wife Rita Edwards Hayes; and his children, Carolyn Crist (Brian) and Bernard L. Hayes Jr.. He is also survived by six grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; two brothers; three sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
