He was predeceased by: his parents, August Gehringer and Elsie Gehringer (Koenig); his wife Gisela Gehringer (Schuster); his son Carl F. Gehringer Jr.; and his sisters, Betty Fraley, Eleanor Meyer and Henrietta Seyer.

He is survived by: his daughter Vivian McDowell (Terry) of Howland; his grandson Charles Dann (Jennifer) of Howland; and his great grandchildren, Jaxson and Mila Rose.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Living Hospice c/o Ohio Living Lake Vista 303 N. Mecca Street, Cortland, Ohio 44410.
