He was predeceased by: his wife Clarice Ames; his sons, Mike Ames and Troy Ames; and his parents, Joe Duling and Lucy Duling (Latham).
He is survived by: his son Joe Ames (Shelley) of Coshocton; his grandchildren, Amanda Matchack (Ryan) of Columbus, Sara Moody (Zach) of Coshocton, Chad Ames of Coshocton and Luke Ames (Cheyenne) of Zanesville; his stepgrandchildren, Julie Czapla (Jon) and Philip Arthur (Tara); and his sister-in-law Maureen Allen (Jack) of Conesville.
