He was predeceased by: his wife Charlene Shamel (Stein); his siblings, Chester Shamel, Bruce Shamel and Ruth Hamic (Shamel); and his brother-in-law Donald Stein.
He is survived by: his children, Shelley L. Hulet (Shamel), Laura J. Reiss (Shamel) and James E. Shamel (Jamie); his brother Richard Shamel; and his brothers-in-law, Kenny Stein (Sue) and Terry Stein (Elaine). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
