He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Cletus and Lois Mildred Thomas (Wright); and his siblings, Roy Thomas and Barbara Hahn. He is survived by: his wife Catherine J. Thomas (Wesney) of West Lafayette; his sons, Aaron Thomas (Shannon) of Coshocton and Shawn Thomas of West Lafayette; his grandchildren, Alli Hatfield (Nick), Kelsey, Ryley, Alyssa Thomas and Makita Fisher (John); his great grandchildren, Owen, Cole, Beau Hatfield, Mikee, Zoee D'Ostroph, Klayton, Rylan, Jurnee, Bexlynn and Cashton Fisher; and his siblings, Delbert Thomas (Grace) of Coshocton, Forrest Thomas (Nancy) of London Mills, IL, Daniel Thomas of Dresden and Judy Asire (Jerry) of Newark. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
