She was predeceased by : her parents, Ida Mae and Tyson Millow Butler; her husband Bill James; her siblings, Helen Monahan, Jean Bushman, Tyson Butler and Donald Butler; and her stepdaughter Denise Kolb.

She is survived by : her sons, Scott James and Brian James (Janel) of Akron; and her stepdaughter Pamela Hoops of Tulsa, Oklahoma.. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
