Roy "Ole Man' 'Pete' Roose age 71, of Delphos passed away 11:13 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2018 at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born Dec. 23, 1946 in Lima to the late Roy N. and Phyllis Schaffner Roose, Jr. He married Dora Ann Owsley on Dec. 23, 1967 and she preceded him in death. Ole Man had been a truck driver for 46 years and never had an accident. He was a fan of Tony Stewart and NASCAR in general. He would go to Lima Land and Eldora any chance he had. John Wayne was one of his heroes and he adored his nieces and nephews. Survivors include daughters: Laura (Ben) Smith of Lima and Jodi Roose of Las Vegas, 5 grandchildren Ben, Alayna, Brandon, Ashton, Alyssa and 2 great grandchildren Isaac and Piper Smith; a special friend Sharon Bockrath of Delphos and other too many to list. He was preceded in death by an infant son Steven Roose. The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 9th at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The funeral service will follow at 6 with Elder Byron Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Breast Cancer Research.
