He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Sue Whitaker; his parents, Clyde Whitaker and Mae Whitaker; his children, David W. Whitaker (Kelly) and Donna Berryman (Jeff); his grandchildren, Lauren, Ethan Berryman, Zach Fink, Chelsey Brown and Amber Arvidson; and his siblings, Bernice Weber, Lois Whitaker, Lawrence Whitaker, James Whitaker and Mary Radford. He was also cherished by 6 great-grandchildren.
