He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Oates and Irena Oates (Beach). He is survived by: his wife Connie Modd; his sons, Todd Oates (Dana) of Kenton, Brian Oates (Sara) of Liberty Township, OH and Craig Oates (Carol) of Apex; his grandchildren, Dale, Claire Oates, Jacob, Joshua, Kathryn Oates, Andrew, Olivia and Jaclyn Oates; and his siblings, Eugene Oates (Betty) of Kenton and Deborah Isenbarger (Darius) of Kenton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Walnut Grove Church.
