He was predeceased by: his parents, Yearsley Holmes and Ethel Holmes (Chaney); his wife Mary M. Holmes (Yentes); his siblings, Donald Holmes, Alene McGowen, Nondas Shaffer, Isabelle Daugherty, Martha Daugherty and Betty Blinn; and his brothers-in-law, Haskiel Daugherty, Mac McGowen, Lawrence Blinn, John Shaffer and Garl Daugherty.
He is survived by: his children, Thomas Holmes (Janice) of Winchester, Kentucky, Debbie Linton (Cam) of Mansfield and Gloria Kuntz (Royce) of Wauseon; his grandchildren, Chad Linton (Ashlee), Wes Linton (Christy), Jason Holmes (Julie), Melissa Bauknight (John) and Grace Kuntz; his great grandchildren, Trace Linton (Jenna Dezio), Callee Linton, Ava Holmes, Owen Holmes and Jack Bauknight; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Emma Holmes, Gerald and Nelson Yentes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
