He was predeceased by: his parents, Golden H. Shaffer and Rena E. Staub (Stump); his wife Carol F. Shaffer (Handley); and his brothers, Golden Shaffer and Stephen Shaffer.
He is survived by: his daughter Tammy Hirsch (David) of Wheaton, IL; his grandchildren, Henry, Lucie and Caroline; his sister-in-law Martha Tuvell of Chillicothe; and his nieces, Kelly Vaughn and Holly Shaffer. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
