He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald E. Sorrell and Sylvia Baker Sorrell; his son Kevin Sorrell; and his siblings, Jerry Sorrell and Ruby Rowe.

He is survived by: his wife Laura Rebecca Hoops Sorrell; his children, Gary Sorrell (Penny) and Karen Huddle (Scott); his grandchildren, Kelly Polk (Nick), Tyler Huddle (Shelby) and Alison Brown (Michael); and his great grandchildren, Everett Brown and Hudson Brown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins.
