He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Otis Johnson and Clara Hollins (Duncan); his daughter Yalonda Johnson; and his sister Charlene Parker-Boyd. He is survived by: his spouse Valena Johnson (Saulsberry); his sons, Eric Saulsberry (Amy) of Wapakoneta and Darrell Johnson Jr. (Jennifer) of Lima; and his siblings, Ramona and Kermit Johnson (Sallie). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family towards funeral expenses.
