He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Arthur and Mary Louise Martin Merricle. He is survived by: his wife Alice Mikesell Meyer; his sons, Rob Merricle (Jenise) of Cridersville, Scott Merricle (Ashley) of Cridersville, Haedon and Brandon Meyer of Delphos; his grandchildren, Marissa, Shiana, Keilara, Landyn, Zachary, Evelyn and Audrey; his great grandchildren, Kainen, Madelyn and Evelyn; and his siblings, Patrick Merricle (Aileen) of Wapakoneta, Thomas Merricle (Sue) of Sidney, Martin Merricle (Wilma) of Sidney, Christine Rains (late Jerry) of Cridersville and Norma Harshbarger (Jerry) of Waynesfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to Veteran's Food Bank.
