He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Hooks and Amy Hooks (Bedford); his son Rickey Hooks; his siblings, Frank Hooks, Alice Jones, Elsie Crow, Eileen Pratt and Daisy Page; and his brother-in-law Carl Kay Kilpatrick (Jane).

He is survived by: his pet Sophia; his wife Gretchen Hooks of Lima; his grandchildren, Abigail, Mason and Rachel Hammer; his siblings-in-law, Brenda Fly (Allan) and Jerry Dean Kilpatrick of Findlay; and also Jeny Hammer (Trent) of West Mansfield, OH. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
