He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer E. Hanes and Dolores Crow Hanes; and his brother Douglas Hanes. He is survived by: his wife Kimberly A. Willis; his daughters, Deatta 'Dee Hanes of Denver, CO and Heather Hanes of Palm Springs, CA; his stepdaughter Amber Leedom of Greenville, OH; and his siblings, Michael Hanes (Kathy), Kevin Hanes of Wapakoneta, Bryan Hanes (Carmen) of Lima and Denise (Greg).
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
