He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Raymond Cotrell and Odessa Frances Cotrell (Ford); and his brothers, Gilbert Cotrell, Arthur Cotrell and Harold E. Cotrell.

He is survived by: his children, Mark Cotrell, Michael Cotrell, Jr., Joseph Cotrell and Amy Lawley; his stepson Matt Durham; and his brother Charles Cotrell (Aida).

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Diabetes Association.
