He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Carter and Edith E. Carter (Ruëlle); and his brother Frank Carter. He is survived by: his wife Vickie Sanders; his children, David Carter of Lima and Melodie Shrider (Jim) of Lima; his grandchildren, Adam Gass, Aubree Gass, Isabelle Shrider and Amelia Carter; and his brothers, Gene Carter (Margie) of Waynesfield and Marion Carter (Ruth Ann) of Lima.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Allen County Veterans.
