He was predeceased by: his siblings, Harold Schafer, Fred Schafer, Beatrice Peggs, Marie Martin, Mildred Gross, Helen Foust and Dorothy Brown.
He is survived by: his grandchild Eileen; his wife Eileen; his daughters, Elizabeth "Liz" Stoll (John) and Dianne Birum (Tom); his grandchildren, Jillian Kearns (Landon) of Cuyahoga Falls and Matthew Birum (Erin Swearingen) of Columbus; his great grandchildren, Sophia Kearns of Cuyahoga Falls and Ceci Kearns of Cuyahoga Falls; his stepgreat-grandchild Lily Kearns of Medina; and his sisters, Kathryn Davis of Lima and Alice Hughes of Vaughnsville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
