He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Charles Hixon and Cora Atkins Hixon; his spouse Geneva Williams of Hord July; his sons, David Joseph Hixon (Brenda) of Westerville and Mark Alan Hixon (Lisa) of Taylor; his granddaughters, Jennifer Lyn Mangino (Michael) of Cincinnati and Emily Amanda Patrick (Matthew) of Columbus, OH; his great grandchildren, Michael David Mangino, Thomas Joseph Mangino of Cincinnati and Maxwell Jude Patrick of Columbus; his siblings, Roy Lee Hixon (Pauline) of Claremont and Leona Mae Lucas (David "Luke") of Mattoon; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Hixon of Claremont and Linda Hixon of Flat Rock; his brother Charles Jr.; and his sisters-in-law, Marie Rogers Hixon and Mary Case Hixon. He was also cherished by many nephews, nieces and cousins.
