He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Kays and Emma Kays (Burns); his great grandchildren, Maxton and Solomon; and his brother James H. Kays.
He is survived by: his wife Lavone; his children, Sue Steiner (Tom) of Sebring, FL and Wayne Kays (Joan) of Doylestown; his grandchildren, Rashelle Korbas (Kurt), Kyle Kays, Emily Kays (Ryan Berenyi), Amanda Tyson, Stephanie Mensink (Aaron) and Thomas "Tommy" Steiner (Elizabeth); and his siblings, Bobby Kays (Edna) of Doylestown, Helen Patterson and June Ison. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
