He is survived by: his parents, Joseph Mathis and Birdie Mathis (Gibson); his former wife Louise (Oldfield); his son Charles "Ed" Mathis, Jr. (Marla); his stepchildren, Terry Oldfield (Sondra) and Nadina Crowe; his daughter-in-law Jan Salazar (Hector); his grandchildren, Shayne Mathis, Shawn Graham (Paul), Timothy Mathis (Angel) and Leah Mercy (Scott); and his great grandchild Natalie Mercy. He is also survived by several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
