She was predeceased by: her father Fred Manns. She is survived by: her mother Edith Manns (Downs); her pet Roxy; her husband Anthony Szabo; her daughter Rena Parsley; her stepdaughters, Ali, Abby and Aubrey Szabo; and her sisters, Pamela Polly, Lisa Crockett and Regina Acosta. She is also survived by many other family members and friends.
Some of her awards include, The Science Foundation Teacher Liaison, Time-Warner Teacher of the Year, Fulbright Award, and many others.
