He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Eckhardt (Kristian); his parents, Charles Eckhardt and Sarah Eckhardt (Connaroe); his sons, Thomas and Joseph Eckhardt; his granddaughter Monica Jones; his siblings, Charles, George, Richard Eckhardt, Ester Henning, Mary Stam, Ruth Richardson, Clara "Babe" Richardson and Katherine Chambers; and his children-in-law, Kyle Jones and Sue Eckhardt.
He is survived by: his children, James "Jim" Eckhardt (Sandy), David Eckhardt and Shirley Martin (Joseph); his daughter-in-law Kristie Eckhardt; and his grandchildren, Stacey, Holly, Joseph, Stephen, Cody, Jacob and Garrett.
