It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Effie Shenberger Wolford Smith (Mansfield, Ohio), who passed away on December 9, 2025, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Dennis Shenberger and Nellie Shenberger (Nicholson); her brothers, Dale Shenberger and Dennis Shenberger, Jr.; and her sons-in-law, Larry L. "Lum" Lombardo and Crosby Tompkins.
She is survived by: her daughters, Debbie Walter (Doug) of Port Clinton and Dianna Lombardo of Belmont, MI; her grandchildren, Jake Lombardo (Kristyn) of Rockford, MI and Megan White (Andy) of Ashland; her great grandchildren, Amaya, Luke, Caroline, Logan, Ruger, Danner and Case; her brother Irvin Shenberger of Ashland; and her sister-in-law Vickie Shenberger of Mansfield. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Marion Avenue Chapel (350 Marion Ave, Mansfield, OH 44903). A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location. During Effie's tenure at Brookwood Place she survived a life threatening disease, a broken hip, numerous falls (too many to count, actually), COVID, and pneumonia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Effie's memory to Brookwood Place of Brethren Care in Ashland may be made at the funeral home.
