He was predeceased by : his parents, William S. Cowden and Margaret Cowden (Ruby); his wife Karen L. Cowden (Neff); and his sisters, Betty and Helen.

He is survived by : his sons, Matthew D. Cowden (Kelley) of Pickerington and Daniel L. Cowden of New Concord; and his grandsons, Evan Cowden and Owen Cowden.
