He was predeceased by: his parent Percy Platt; his sons-in-law, James Patrick and Emory VanDoren; and his siblings, Glenn E. Platt and Edith Mae Francis.
He is survived by: his parent Jennie Welsh Platt; his spouse Bernice J. Shuster; and his children, Cynthia Patrick of Harmony, Deborah VanDoren of Virginia and David Platt (Donna) of New Middletown. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
