He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Francis and Florence Bella Friel (Hammer); his wife Mary Agnes Friel (Keeney); his siblings, Mary Tipple, Nancy Danielson, Rita Kokensparger, Carolyn Stoffel, Robert Friel and Joseph Friel; his son-in-law Kyle Strawn; his son Gary Knight Friel; his grandchildren, Brittany Schrader, Kimber Lee Yates, Caleb Friel and Russell Spence Jr.; his siblings-in-law, William Keeney, David Neal, Lawrence Danielson, Bill Lee, Sissy Keeney and Betty Keeney; and his parents-in-law, Theodore and Ida Keeney.
He is survived by: his children, Barbara Spence (Russell), Melissa Strawn (Vonda Kingery), Sharon Halley (Lee), Karen Drake (Jim Spaulding), Theresa Rooker (John) and Jonathon Friel (Tina); his sister Rose Ann Lee; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Neal and Bruce Keeney (Lisa). He is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
