He was predeceased by : his parents, George M. Jewell and Sarah Jane Jewell (Gibson); his wife Joanne Jewell (Castle); his children, Robert D. Jewell, Paul Michael Jewell and Lois A. Jewell; and his siblings, James Jewell, Judy McCoy, Gertude Pruit, Norlee Rice, Hazel Amburgy and Charlie Jewell.

He is survived by : his children, Angela Scott (Robert), Mark S. Jewell (Lisa), Philip G. Jewell (Pamela), Ernest David Jewell (Kelly) and Patricia A. Roberts (David); his sisters, Naoma Holliday and Leona Holliday; and his daughter-in-law Linda Jewell. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service (59 N 5th St, Newark, OH 43055). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Mt Hope Cemetery.
