He was predeceased by : his parents, Howard Shirk and Edith Shirk (Waite); his wife Eleanor Shirk (Hanson); and his siblings, Theodore D. Shirk and Donna D. Clayman.

He is survived by : his children, Virginia Edixon (Brian) and Norman Shirk (Judy); his grandsons, Andrew and Brandon Shirk; and his pet Lily.
