He was predeceased by: his brother Harold; his wives, Jean Wilson and Carol Thacker; his aunt Ora Hutchinson; and his great grandchild Ethan Freck.
He is survived by: his sister Maley Duncan of West Virginia; and his children, Steven H. Murphy, Douglas Murphy (Lucia), Rodger Murphy (Jenny), Edward Murphy, Allan Murphy (Kathy), Roxanne Holly, Michael Murphy (Dawn) and Toni Voigt (John).
