He was predeceased by: his parents, John Austin and Goldie Marie Burkhart (Hostetler); his stepmother Dorothy Burkhart; and his siblings, Glen Burkhart, George Burkhart, William Burkhart, Edna Stover and Beverly Jenkins.
He is survived by: his wife Vera Lee Burkhart (Lifer); his sons, Thomas Burkhart (Jan) of Jeromesville, John Burkhart (Vicki) of Loudonville, Clayton Burkhart (Bonnie) of Shreve and Merl Wesley Burkhart (Chris) of Rock Hill, SC; his stepson Ray Armstrong of Sugarcreek; and his siblings, Robert Burkhart of Perrysville, Shirley Boyer and Margaret Weatherbee. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
