Tarun Gupta wrote a sympathy message

“Aradhana & myself are deeply saddened with the passing away of Manfred Gunter, dear Opa, as everybody in the family including SIL & DIL beside his grandchildren used to call him. Manfred was a noble, kind-hearted, soft-spoken family man who we have several fond memories of; most importantly, about the book he wrote describing how he built a boat and then sailed from VA to FL. He dearly loved his grandkids deep from the heart. We will forever miss Manfred and will carry his love with us always.”
