She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Summerson and Frances Summerson (Barbich). She is survived by: her husband Steve J. Olson; her children, Stephen C. Olson (Michelle) of Aurora, Clint Olson and Amy Olson; her sisters, Emma Shwallon (Mike) of Pennsylvania and Debbie Summerson of Pennsylvania; her granddaughter Alyssa Strunk; and her pet Breezy.

Charlene was a volunteer for the Diabetes Foundation where she worked at many of the health fairs.
