He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ellis and Ruth Burr; his wife Marjorie Ellis; his siblings, John, Jim, Bobby Ellis, Larry Dice, Carol Schaffer and Karen Jay; and his stepdaughter Cathy Carper.
He is survived by: his children, Thomas "Butch" Shingleton of Warren, Joseph Ellis (Michelle) of Florida and Tammy Melton of Alabama; his stepchildren, Jerry Facemire of Florida, Jeannie Kieffer of Rootstown, Randy Facemire of West Virginia and John Facemire (Tammy) of Wyoming; and his brother Floyd "Tike" Ellis. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
