He was predeceased by: his parents, Fletcher Shafer and Elizabeth Ann Shafer (Gilbert); and his wife Kathleen Settlage. He is survived by: his former spouse Robin Mathews; his son Chad Shafer of Kenton; his stepchildren, Michael Arrowood (Ashleigh) of Grove City and Brigitte Nulton (Brandon) of Beaverdam; his siblings, Sam Shafer (Shelly) of Kenton and Pam Sheetz of Elyria; and his wife Dobermans. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
