He was predeceased by: his parents, James Elbert and Sallie McKinney, Sr. (Swope-Rice); his siblings, Ethel Lee, Cynthia Sanders and Jessie Owens; and his nephew James McKinney, III.
He is survived by: his wife Billie Jean McKinney (Clinton); his children, Alfonz and Sharece Clinton; his grandchildren, Shai Wasserman, Kayla Clinton, Alecia Clinton, Tavareu Myers, Aryah Clinton, Aaliyah Clinton, Maleah Clinton and Cortez McKinney; his godchild Destiny McKinney; his siblings, James McKinney, Jr., Johnnye (Douglas Page), Christopher McKinney (Gladys) and Howard McKinney (Patrice); and his close friends, Barry Hargrove and Robert Morgan. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
