He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Hower and Mary Hower (Smith); his stepfather Bruce Carlisle; his grandmother Margaret Bahnsen; his great-aunt Melvina Burmeister; his sister Sandy Matsuda; and his father-in-law CledwynFrancis.
He is survived by: his wife Kathy J. Hower (Francis); his children, Sarah J. Hower (Jake Smith) and Derek R. Hower (Christina Hower) of Durham, NC; his grandchildren, Mason Smith, Clara Hower and Grant Hower; his siblings, Mike Carlisle (Liz Carlisle) of Mission Viejo, CA and Gayle Carlisle Davis of Pittsburgh, PA; his godson Gibson Carlisle; his aunt Evelyn Hawk (Lester Hawk); and his mother-in-law Jayne Francis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
