He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, John and Rosemary Bertsch Sr. (Johnson); his son Matthew J. Bertsch (Jenny) of Sidney; his grandchildren, Anastasia Beil and Phillip Bertsch; his sister Lorrie Sue Moniaci; and his grandson Sebastian Bertsch.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in John's memory.
