He was predeceased by: his father Earl Ray Adkins; his sister-in-law Shawna J. Adkins; and his nephews, Andrew Adkins and Jimi Riley. He is survived by: his mother Doris Adkins Legg; his daughters, Heather Sury of Conneaut, Kandace Adkins of South Point and Stephanie Adkins of Lavalette, WV; his grandchildren, Avalon Sury of Conneaut, Michael "Lex" Bond of Lavalette, WV and Phillip "Geralt" Bond of Lavalette, WV; his close friend Carla Higgins Adkins; and his siblings, Earl "Ray" Adkins II, Pamela Hughes, Kathryn Riley and Kimberly Reed.
