He was predeceased by : his parents, James Patterson and Pauline Desrochers (McGaughy); his brothers, Richard and Michael Patterson; and his nieces, Kimberly Ellis and Cyndi Patterson.

He is survived by : his wife Claudia "Lyn" Patterson; his children, Amy Polzin (Scott) of Thornville, Kevin Scott (Carla) of Hilliard and Jackie Barrow (David) of Columbus; his grandchildren, Amanda (Ben), Nicholas (Chrissy), Samantha, Dylan, Heather and Hailey; his great grandchildren, Oliver, Aiden and Greta; and his sister Sue Ellis (Ralph). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
