He was predeceased by: his brother James Steele; his grandson Daniel Ellis, Jr.; his son-in-law Tom Merrick, Sr.; his great grandchildren, Taylor, Jonathan and Pat Merrick; and his great great grandchild Eden Ellis.
He is survived by: his parents, Burl Steele and Cinderella Steele (Stout); his wife Evelyn; and his children, Sandra Ellis (Daniel), Burl Steele (Kathy), Terri Merrick and Charles Steele, Jr (Kelly). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
