He was predeceased by: his son Miguel; and his siblings, Antonia Gonzalez, Josephina Billagas, Nino Zavala and Daniel Zavala.
He is survived by: his wife Gloria; his children, Rosa Lopez (David), Carlos Zavala (Shelley), Manuel Zavala (Sylvia), Delia Quisenberry and Estevan Zavala; and his sister Apolina Rodriguez. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
