She was predeceased by: her parents, James Cowan and Anna Westfall Cowan; her former husband Robert Smothers I; her husband James Fitzpatrick; her children, James R. Smothers and Sharon Noonan; and her great grandchild Zaina M. Ayacat.

She is survived by: her children, Deborah Bauer, Robert Smothers II and Jeffrey Smothers (Cheri). She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
