He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Vincent Dawson and Kathryn Dawson; his wife Diann Dawson; his daughters, Nikki Shinevarre (Dave) and Kristi Russell (Jerry); his grandchildren, Mikaela, Skylar, Kiley and Sophie; his siblings, Ruth Seth, Doug Dawson, Janet Dawson, Jean Curtis, Kathy Sorter and Vicki Dawson; and his sister-in-law Brenda Garmon (Brian). He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to the family or Rett Syndrome Research Trust.
