He was predeceased by: his sisters, Mary Ann Meehan, Diane Wagner and Mary Eagan; and his granddaughters, Victoria Kathryn Smith and Ursula Kathryn Gilsdorf.

He is survived by: his daughter Kathryn Gilsdorf (Robert); his siblings, Theresa Jean Stachak and James Eagan (Becky); his grandchildren, Kathryn Maria Gilsdorf, Lief Daniel Gilsdorf, Jonmorgan Smith and Danielle Abrass (Evan); and also Maria Bojarski (Brad). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
