She was predeceased by: her father George Howard Briggs. She is survived by: her significant other Thomas Demattio; her children, Danielle Miller (Chris) and Brandon Hupp (Elijah); her mother Marjorie West; her sister Marla Griffith (Brett); and her sibling's children, Nikki Myers (Corey) and Benjamin Aponik (Darien).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a nursing scholarship established in her honor: The Melanie Briggs Scholarship for Future Nurses, which supports Kent State Tuscarawas nursing students.
